Mental Health App
Objective
Create the front-end artifacts for a fictious mental health app and define the main user goal. Design the loading, log in, home, and subsequent screens.
Define the target market, research and dissect competitor apps. Decide the app’s specific topic and its features. Design wireframes for screens based on the main user goal, develop them into high-fidelity concepts, and create a protype with a custom logo.
Solution
Based in self-improvement, Haven is designed to aid students and young professionals (20-35) with tools to help create healthy habits, while tracking ongoing progress. Its features include: mood control, sleep tracking, journal entries, mindfulness exercises, goal setting and reminders, and resources (e.g., therapist lists, emergency services). The design of the app fits in with the market with its competitor, Headspace, with a similar icon face and clouds. However, its more minimalist design with soft purples and blues with a warm cream background colour set it apart as it emphasizes the calming and cheerful design of the overall app. The design is particularly engaging with the animation of the faces on each new screen. The flow is thoughtful and intuitive, following the main user goal: “The user inputs their mood into the mood tracker.” Connected to this project is an animation for another class in which an animated video for a new original mascot, Nimbi, was created to promote the app.
